Job Description
CNC / VMC Programming
Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code/M-code or CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, SolidCAM).
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies.
Perform program prove-outs and make necessary corrections to improve cycle time and quality.
Machine Setup & Operation
Set up CNC/VMC machines including tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and tool offsets.
Load and verify CNC programs before execution.
Operate machines safely to produce parts as per specifications.
Monitor machining processes and adjust feeds, speeds, and tool paths as needed.
Quality Control & Inspection
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and process sheets.
Inspect components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM (if applicable).
Ensure components meet dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform basic machine maintenance and daily checks.
Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, tooling problems, and machine alarms.
Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for major repairs or improvements.
Safety & Documentation
Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Maintain production records, tool life data, and inspection reports.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.
Proficiency in CNC programming (manual and/or CAM).
Experience with 3-axis or 4-axis VMCs (5-axis preferred if applicable).
Good understanding of cutting tools, materials, and machining parameters.
Education & Experience
Diploma / ITI / Technical certification in Mechanical, CNC Machining, or related field.
0–15+ years of hands-on experience as a CNC/VMC Operator, Programmer, or Setter (depending on role level).
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Willingness to work shifts and meet production deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
Experience with aerospace, automotive, medical, or precision engineering components.
Knowledge of ISO quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
Experience with tooling optimization and cycle time reduction.
